Whilst all beaches on the North Coast are safe for bathing, care must be taken at all times and you must be aware of possible dangers and also be able to recognise flags and signs which will aid your safety. Coleraine Borough Council operates a Beach Lifeguard Service at the following beaches during the Summer period:
Downhill, Castlerock, West Bay (Portrush), East Strand (Portrush), Whiterocks (Portrush). Service in operation when flags are raised.
