Activities on Northern Ireland's North Coast

Bathing

Whilst all beaches on the North Coast are safe for bathing, care must be taken at all times and you must be aware of possible dangers and also be able to recognise flags and signs which will aid your safety. There will be zoned areas for bathers during the summer for your safety. To view our Beach Safety Leaflet, click here.

Coleraine Borough Council operates a Beach Lifeguard Service at the following beaches during the Summer period:
Downhill, Castlerock, West Bay (Portrush), East Strand (Portrush), Whiterocks (Portrush). Service in operation when flags are raised.
Each beach has safety signage and life saving equipment. Please report any damage or losses that we may have missed Tel: 7034 7234.
