Coleraine Borough Council was delighted to open this dedicated water sports facility in summer 2007 and the centre is used to facilitate a wide range of sea and coastal related activities. The Centre allows year round access to high quality amenities for both local and visiting water sports users. Groups and individuals can use the Water Sports centre as a base for changing and storing belongings. Activities on East Strand include surfing, body boarding, sea kayaking, surf kayaking, wind surfing, sub aqua and sea angling.
The Water Sports Centre is comprised of:
Ø Beach safety/lifeguard station
Ø Troggs Surf Retail Outlet -Seasonal Opening (see www.troggssurfshop.co.uk)
Ø First aid room
Ø A retail unit, operated by local surf shop Troggs
Ø Training room
Ø External changing facility
Ø Club/group male and female changing and showering facilities
Ø Leader/coach changing facilities
Ø Male/female and disabled public toilets
Ø Heated shower cubicles, controlled by a purchasable fob system
Individual Users
Independently operated changing / shower rooms can be accessed
by purchasing an Access Card from Troggs Surf Shop at the front
of the building or from Portrush Filling Station, Bushmills Road.
Access Cards Priced at £6 / 4 showers or £10 / 10 showers
