A UNESCO world heritage site and National Nature Reserve nine miles from Portrush, comprising of approximately 40,000 hexagonal stone columns whose origins have astonished visitors for centuries. Area with a wealth of local history and legend.
The development of the new Giant’s Causeway Visitor Experience is currently underway at a cost of £18.5 million with a proposed completion date of summer 2012. The project will create a new visitor centre, enhanced walking trails and access, state of the art interpretation and ensure the conservation and protection of this precious site.
Careful planning and site management means that visitors will continue to gain access to the Giant’s Causeway but some disruption and queues at peak times are to be anticipated.
Temporary visitor facilities have been established at the adjacent Causeway hotel and include Tourist Information, Bureau de Change and Craft & Souvenir shops. Refreshments and meals available at hotel. A ‘Causeway Coaster’ minibus service to the main rock formation operates daily from 10.00am (fares payable direct to minibus driver. Free to National Trust Members).
As parking at the World Heritage site will be limited, visitors are advised to use the new Park & Ride in Bushmills or alternative car parks nearby.
Return Park & Ride fare from Bushmills £1.75 per adult, £1.00 per child, Family fare £5.00.
